Character Information
*Character Name: Gunmax
*Character Canon: Brave Police: J-Decker
*Age: Approximately a year.
*Race: Robot / BP-Model
*Timeline/Pull Point: Post-episode 39.
*History:
It's important to bear in mind, first of all, the main setting of Brave Police: J-Decker; the idea follows that it is sometime in the future, not far from our own. Technology has sprung forth, which has excelled humanity, including crime. People make their own robots for their crime sprees, and bio-monsters can be a regular accident... or something performed on purpose by crazy scientists. Suffice it to say, Japan in this era has gotten used to the idea of being attacked by a giant robotic dinosaur, sadly. Which is why the police force decided to create the Brave Police, a specialized department of transforming detective robots that protect people, solve cases, and arrest the bad guys! The Brave Police is commanded by a few individuals: Yuuta, a young boy who helped create the heart of the robots; Saejima, who is the commissioner; Deckerd, a robot who turns into a patrol car and takes orders from both humans but is considered non-verbally to be the leader of the other detectives
Gunmax is not the first of the line of the Brave Police. Around midway through the series, he appears after six other detectives have already been constructed; it is implied that Gunmax was constructed in America, then shipped to Japan. Originally, he was meant to be part of the Highway Patrol, which explains why he rides a giant motorcycle designed for him. This worked out well for awhile, but mysteriously, he was kicked off of the patrol for his "bad attitude". Saejima decided to make Gunmax part of the Brave Police, which none of the other detectives were terribly fond of since the biker was kind of a jerk. A prime example of this being that while Deckerd and Yuuta were pursuing a robotic junkpile called a "doublebot" on the highway, Gunmax essentially leapt in with his motorcycle, shot the doublebot recklessly, and caused it to crash through a barrier into the water below. While able to assist the Brave Police in such a manner, Gunmax behaved very carefree, playing with the rules rather loosely and subtly insulting the other Brave Police for "being so competent".
Still, in his own way, Gunmax did prove himself somewhat to have a good nature by saving Deckered from another doublebot later on. Declaring himself just repaying Deckerd and Yuuta for helping him before when he had been pinned down during the same fight, Gunmax was determined to work alone, essentially saying "screw the rules, teamwork is dumb". After overhearing clues to concluding who was making the doublebots and where to go, Gunmax took off on his own to investigate. The rest of the Brave Police followed closely behind, trying to prevent Gunmax from going off on his own. In a complete dick move, Gunmax grabbed Yuuta and stated that the others could shoot at them if they wanted -- but they'd probably hit Yuuta in the meanwhile. This prevented the others from shooting him and allowed Gunmax to fly off and infiltrate the factory. Intending to leave Yuuta on his own, Gunmax left Yuuta outside, but the kid insisted on following him. Annoyed but knowing he couldn't leave Yuuta to be harmed by the doublebots, he brought him along. However, Yuuta's stumble into getting caught by the doublebots forced Gunmax to be shot down and captured. Gunmax's motor control was harmed in the process, not allowing him to be able to move other than talk; as such, he was chained, put on a tread and slowly moved towards a smelter for an unfortunate demise.
Yuuta, determined to assist, broke free of the doublebots and leapt onto Gunmax, fixing his motor control. Gunmax managed to break free; he was touched by Yuuta's selflessness that could have gotten the kid killed for such an action. As such, he softened himself a bit, his behavior improving slightly. He accepted the help of the rest of the Brave Police to solve the case, which officially introduced Gunmax to be part of the team.
It was soon after discovered that Gunmax could transform into a giant cannon to be fired by Deckerd; however, Gunmax was not terribly fond of the idea, saying that he refused to take on the form. This hinted at some trust issues that Gunmax kept buried, and the the biker walked from the office. Pictures from the Highway Patrol suddenly appeared, showing Gunmax running with a gang. Refusing to explain himself, Gunmax attempted to run off on his own -- which proved useless, since Deckerd cuffed himself to the other detective, forcing Gunmax to flee with Deckerd on his motorcycle.
Eventually, Gunmax was forced to explain his behavior at long last: when he was introduced to the Highway Patrol, things started out very well. He had a human partner named Kirisaki and they had a good relationship. However, Gunmax eventually discovered that Kirisaki was selling off mods, equipment, and vehicles to gangs. Stunned by this news but loyal to Kirisaki, Gunmax didn't tell anyone that he knew, quietly hoping that Kirisaki would turn himself in. This was not the case, sadly, as eventually someone else on the patrol spilled the beans on Kirisaki. Furious and betrayed, Kirisaki immediately assumed it was Gunmax who tattled, telling him that he would make him feel his pain before he was officially discharged. This sprung forward Gunmax's horrible attitude, why he ended up on the Brave Police as a result, and why Gunmax reacted poorly to the idea of being forced to "partner up" with Deckerd. It also explained how the photos showed up: they were modified by Kirisaki in hopes that Gunmax would be pursued by his own teammates.
However, the rest of the Brave Police instead insisted that Gunmax was innocent, which surprised Gunmax. Deckerd's faith and trust also shocked him. Kirisaki was wrong about them. Seeing that his original plan did not work, Kirisaki attacked Gunmax and Deckerd with his robot composed of motorcyclesYEP YOU READ THAT RIGHT weirder crap has happened on the show. Finding that the team could not defeat Kirisaki without Gunmax's Max Cannon, the biker decided to trust Deckerd finally and transform into the weapon, allowing them to defeat Kirisaki. From then on, Gunmax accepted Deckerd as his partner.
Various cases went by since then, and eventually there was a man named Victim O'Rand out there determined to defeat the Brave Police by creating his own sentient robots: the Chieftains. They were a powerful duo -- so powerful that it seemed that they managed to even kill Deckerd despite the efforts of everyone else. This introduced another Brave Police member: Duke, who was constructed in England. He was able to assist, defeating one of the Chieftains. Eventually, after Deckerd was restored, the other Chieftain was defeated and the team gained Duke as their final member. Eventually, they were able to arrest Victim.
Several adventures would follow, including a robotic whale god, robot girlfriends, and so on. Pertaining to Gunmax specifically for his core history, another case sprung of several car thefts going on in the city. The Brave Police decided to use Toudou -- one of the main individuals who helped design and construct each detective -- as "bait" since he had a very appealing car that the thieves may want to steal. It worked well -- too well as a matter of fact. While trying to protect Toudou, Gunmax failed ultimately, causing his bike to be wrecked. The other two assisting on the case, Duke and Deckerd, were still getting repaired, which left Gunmax on his own. He overheard where Toudou might be. Determined, Gunmax ran off on his own -- no bike and no back-up -- to find and rescue Toudou.
At first, Gunmax was able to distract the thieves in order for Toudou to escape, but it caused the biker to be damaged in the process. Toudou eventually decided to stay and assist Gunmax, just long enough until Gunmax's repaired bike returned along with Duke and Deckerd. With all of them working together, they were able to defeat and arrest the criminals. This event caused Gunmax and Toudou to form a stronger bond, close to a father-son connection.
And it's about there that Gunmax will be pulled!
*Personality:
If there's one song that could possibly describe Gunmax, it's got to be "Born to be Wild". It appropriately describes his carefree attitude, along with his rebellious nature. He's described by others as always getting his way, and this is primarily due to such quirks; he is stubborn and often has been determined to do things his own way without adjusting to the needs of others. This can come off as selfish, but more to the point Gunmax is protective of his himself, leftover from his once perception of seeing no point on relying on others. This changed, of course, after he spent time with Yuuta and the Brave Police. Gunmax also tends to be kind of a sarcastic jerk on the surface, taking enjoyment in teasing others that he likes and mocking almost everyone else, but he clearly does care about others underneath some of the facade.
Gunmax is also fairly reckless, playing by the rules loosely in order to achieve an end result. While he will do what it takes to avoid casualties, he doesn't give a damn about property damage so long as it gets the job done. It could be that he enjoys seeing himself as a badass. Part of it is still a lingering inclination to rely on himself and his ways without relying on others. Ultimately, one could even say that he has some trust issues, having a hard time attaching himself to others, trusting them, and relying on them. All of these attributes can be connected to his former partnership with Kirisaki, who also broke the rules constantly, tended to be quite rough and carefree, and betrayed Gunmax's trust.
Fortunately, Gunmax is not as distrustful as he used to be, thanks to his relationships with Yuuta (who inspired him to be softer), Deckerd (who gained Gunmax's trust), and Toudou (who has been a better influence on Gunmax than Kirisaki was). However, Gunmax is a person who stands by his choices and will still have a hard time being a team player with people he does not know at all. He's set in his ways, and if he cannot have those he's worked with and become fond of, he will at first decide that they absolutely cannot be replaced. This can be deconstructed over time, but it is something to bear in mind heavily for someone like Gunmax.
SO IN SUMMARY: A jerk with a heart of gold.
Something to pay attention to is Gunmax's quirk, which is technically part of his personality: while he speaks Japanese fluently, he does tend to spout off random English at times and certain catchphrases. These will be emphasized typically by bolding in text, which can be optionally interpreted by people if they'd like.
*Powers/Abilities:
Gunbike Armor - Gunmax's motorcycle, Gunbike, not only is his ride, his love, and armor. It can transform into an armor for Gunmax, which also allows Gunmax to fly. The Gunbike can also be summoned by a verbal command from Gunmax. The Gunbike contains a sidecar fit for humans, which also contains a machine gun.
Max Cannon Mode - On top of his bike, Gunmax can transform into the impressive Max Cannon, which can only be fired by Deckerd when he is in his J-Decker mode. So while it is a powerful weapon, it can only be fired by one person specifically at this time. Additionally, Gunmax cannot turn into this without his motorcycle.
Hacking - From his wrist, Gunmax has an extension that lets him hack into electronic locks.
Short Range Synthetic Communication - At a short range, Gunmax can communicate mentally with Deckerd. This would probably be no more than a few meters.
*Inventory:
- Gunbike: Gunmax's motorcycle
- One robot-sized magnum
- One robot-sized shotgun
*Starting Polarity: Megatronus
If AU, how does your character differ from canon?: (Non AU apps may ignore this question. CRAUs and OAUs should get in to specifics here regarding what changes there are from their character's original canon. We'll need at least a paragraph explaining details.) Please see Final Notes.

This whole thing about ... whatshisface, Primus and everything else has gone over his head a bit. The fact that others exist outside of Earth is a bit mind-blowing.
But for all of its fantastical impressions, Gunmax downright loathes being here. Sure, he has a lot of space for driving and he supposes that's okay, but it's not the same as driving down a highway. Gunmax -- and he would never admit such a thing out loud to anyone -- misses the others. He wants the familiarity of the Decker Room back and everyone that comes with it. He'd take it altogether if he could.
Gunmax scowls to himself behind his visor as he continues to drive down the canyon. The direction doesn't matter, because it'll end up in the same.
He can't reach Nanamagari, so why does it matter where he goes?
"Damn it," Gunmax mutters to himself.
It's still hard to accept that he's the only one of the Brave Police here. His ability to socialize is a bit hampered despite how his personality seems. He'd become so well adjusted to everyone else's company that he isn't completely sure he can deal with anyone new in his life without them. No one can possibly compare, and Gunmax will not replace them.
Better to be alone, then, in that case. Right?
Final Notes:
I would like for Gunmax to return with all of his memories and experiences from his previous visit. He has changed from canon, becoming much more brash, angry, and rebellious. During his stay in Haven, he was upgraded to be able to drink energon as fuel. In addition to this, it's important to emphasize his relationships with McCrane and Knock Out. McCrane keeps him grounded, and Knock Out upgraded McCrane to be able to fire the Max Cannon on his own. In addition, Gunmax can now turn into a motorcycle, so he does have a vehicle mode now.
